What Is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction?

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program is highly regarded within the medical field for its effectiveness in managing stress, pain, illness, and the challenges of daily life.
Developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Division of Preventative and Behavioral Medicine, MBSR is intended to complement, rather than replace, traditional medical or psychological treatments.

About Dr. Kasim Al-Mashat

Dr. Kasim Al-Mashat developed a passion for personal growth and positive change early on, exploring inspiring books, talks, and martial arts. His first encounter with counselling as a teenager proved transformative.
After earning a Bachelor's degree in Business and Communications from Simon Fraser University, his true calling became clear while volunteering, leading him to pursue a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology focusing on trauma, and later, a Doctorate for which the research focused on war refugee trauma and experiences.
A deep interest in mindfulness led Dr. Al-Mashat to become a certified MBSR teacher and trainer through the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Medical School. He founded the Centre for Mindfulness Canada in 2015, dedicated to fostering healing, growth, and well-being.
