About This Course

The eight-week MBSR program offers participants the opportunity to practice formal mindfulness meditation techniques while exploring themes such as perception, automatic stress reactions, mindfulness-based stress responses, and interpersonal communication.

At the conclusion of the MBSR program, participants will be able to:

  • Explore and recognize personal patterns related to automatic thinking and habitual stress reactivity that may increase burnout and reduce effectiveness.
  • Identify and understand current life stressors.
  • Reflect on and examine individual resources for managing stress, comparing adaptive and maladaptive coping mechanisms.
  • Understand how stress manifests in human biology and physiology, and how mindfulness can help reduce the stress cycle.
  • Utilize formal and informal mindfulness practices to minimize distractions, improve clarity and intentionality in decision-making, and enhance emotional regulation.
  • Learn and practice mindful listening as an effective skill for improving interpersonal relationships.
  • Develop a plan to incorporate mindfulness practices in supporting personal health and well-being.

About the Teacher

Dr. Kasim Al-Mashat
A deep interest in mindfulness led Dr. Al-Mashat to become a certified MBSR teacher and trainer through the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He founded the Centre for Mindfulness Canada in 2015, dedicated to fostering healing, growth, and well-being. Learn more.
