About Mindfulness

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness means staying in the present moment with a gentle awareness of our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. By doing this, we create space to engage more healthily with both the pain and joy in our lives.
It also empowers us to make more thoughtful choices when facing challenges, rather than falling into automatic, reactive patterns that can leave us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless.
As humans, it can be difficult to remain in the present moment. Our minds naturally drift to the past or the future, filled with worries, negative thoughts, plans, memories, regrets, or even imagined arguments. In doing so, we often miss out on the present—the very place where life unfolds.

What is MBSR?

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program is widely regarded in the medical community as an effective approach for managing stress, pain, illness, and the challenges of daily life.
Developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine, MBSR complements rather than replaces traditional medical or psychological treatments.
